I was in progress of moving my 150 into my basemtent last night and my help called it a night on me so I put all my live stock in a brute put some LR in there a power head, heater even a hob filter.made it through night ok even ate in morning got home from work to find everything dead! I'm devastated and don't even know if I want to start over. So please take a moment to say goodbye to,foxy the fox face, blue the regal,Larry, moe curry, and joe the pj cardinals, beauty the coral beauty, scopas the scopas tang, mohawk the naso tang,Bruce the marbled cat shark, and my rbta. I don't know where to go from here and even if I want to. :shout:

Not a clue....I just tested peramiters in it and other then an ammonia spike from dead fish I don't see any obvious problems

Oh, man, I hate to hear that. While it may be hard to imagine keeping the faith, don't give up. Give it a bit of time and I would bet you will get motivated to get back into.

How high was the ammonia? Generally it takes a while for a fish to break down enough to show levels.

Are you sure that during the move you didn't wipe out your beneficial bacteria on the live rock?? Temp swings? Ph drop?

Sorry to hear that. I've lost some very expensive fishes. Ironically, all the expensive fishes I lost were in my QT to begin with. In any case, I'm wondering if the ammonia spike was from the waste and not the dead fish. That's a lot of fish. Do you think there may not have been enough water to dilute the ammonia level?

The ammonia was not danger high and they theoretically could have been dead for 9 hours.there was no temp swings on ph drop and the move was literally 2 feet and it was a slow transfer to a big brute trash can which I have been using for water for at least 8 months.maybe it was to many fish for that but I didn't think it would be a problem for less then 24 hrs. But you live and u learn. I'm just sad because my whole family was very attached and I gave them the best life I could and I hate for there last moments to have been like that.

sign of a true reefer right there and further proof not to give in. take a few weeks off to decompress and calm down and the itch will come back. dont make any drastic decisions after a loss like this.

and i am sorry for your losses, its tough

I'm sorry to hearthe most devastated news. Hope you recover well on your lost

Perhaps oxygen level?

There is no such thing as a 'former' Marine. Stick with it... It'll be good again.

There is no such thing as an ex marine but if former is an issue I'll change it.

Edit: Thanks for all the support guys

I only meant when you left active duty you did not leave behind all the traits that made you a Marine. It is more than a uniform or an enlistment. It dwells in your heart.

Now toughen up and leave your loss in the past... There are more Moes, Curleys, and Larrys out there.

Wow. that totally sucks. After all the work you go through. I'm very sorry to hear about your loss.
