Hi all,

hope things are well!

I woke up today in the morning to my blonde naso tang, which has beenwith me for 1.5 + years stuck to the circulation pump.

no visible causes of death. after I removed him, I was observing the other fish closely to see if there is something which I may have missed.I found my clown fish just chilling close to his rock as usual, but he looked like he had some kind of mucousy, stringy stuff on him and spots.

parameters have been stable at 77 F, 1.027 salinity, 9dkh, cal at 420.

have not introduced anything to the tank in the past 2 months, except for a sea hare to deal with some hair algae problem that I had.

can anyone id what is going on and what steps I need to take?
Thanks,
Rev

I don't know enough to be a ton of help to you.

I'd jump on HERE put up as much detail as you can with pics - some of the experts are usually quick to respond with recomendations

^^ R2R was super clutch for me. Agree with @lmm1967 - looks like brooklynella. Fish are not likely to overcome brook in the DT.

Basics: Hospital tank setup, dose with Copper Power and bac in a bottle. Give the clown a 30-45 min bath in Ruby Reef Rally then place in the QT. Prob good to do Metro direct in the tank too, because it's likely one disease leads to another.

What other fish do you have?

It's certainly looks like a parasite like velvet or Brook. Do you have access to forums like R2R to read up on treatment protocols?

Rev, I know zero but I’m sorry your tang died and your clown may be sick. Best of luck to you getting it figured out and hopefully eradicated.
