Friend of mine just sent me this pic of his fish, said it just showed up today on a few of them and Im not really sure what it is. Its not raised or fuzzy so Im clueless.

Just on the one fish? I tend to agree with Robin - probably got itself jammed up against some rocks or something. I'd just keep an eye on it for now.

If the scales are "pineconing" out, it is a vague term called "dropsy", which is usually caused by kidney disorders. Usually a late stage sign.

Many diseases may be mitigated through good feeding and water quality, as you probably already know. I would make sure these are not a problem.
