I an going on my honeymoon in september. We want to go some where we can dive. Thinking some where in the Caribbean. any input would be great.

Chris (Mojo) loves Bonaire - I've never been but he is constantly trying to talk me into a trip to go diving. Send him a pm and he can give you info - he recently looked into a trip for us so may have info on flights, hotels, etc

I would recommend Bonaire or the Caymans. St. Thomas was good but really expensive. IMO Dominican Republic wasn't that good.

Bonaire is nice... My favorite place (my home away from home) is St. Maarten / St. Martin. Good diving in prickley pear. GREAT food, nice beaches and did I say good food?!? The island is very safe and very friendly. It is not as expensive and Cayman or St. Barts. Dominica is very nice (not dominican republic, which is also nice but a different place that is often confused).

Im looking at some of the sandals places. Maybe St lucia or Antigua. Does any know if the diver is good at either of these places. We are looking for a place that will be a good honeymoon and have some diving. So we would like a nice room and food and good beaches as well as a couple good dives.

My wife and I went to Sandals in St. Lucia last summer...here are some pics

Page 6 has some dive boat shots. I was hoping to rent an underwater camera there but no luck...take my advice, buy or rent one here and take one with you...We saw so much diverse life, too much to describe here, and I did not get one shot!

Diving was very good. The resort dive boats and masters are very good and extra safe. Don't expect any deep dives from the standard resort dives, I mean more than 70 feet. My wife and I are both certified, she took a resort refresher for $45 and I took my advanced open water cert while I was there for $300. We went with another couple who had never been diving and they both got resort cert for $45 and we were all diving day 2 or 7 - and all diving is included! cert divers get the typical 2 dives per day, resort cert divers get 1 dive per day.

We stayed at the Halcyon Resort. It was very nice, kinda older, but a bit cheaper then the Grand St. Lucian, however if I were younger and going on my Honeymoon I would definitely stay at the Grand. It is one of the most beautiful resorts we have ever been to...and I have stayed at some nice places! Bte, you can stay at any of the 3 resorts and eat/play at all three but the Grand is by far the nicest and being there would be more convenient.

The food is very good, not what I expected for an all inclusive. You can got to any Sandals restaurants (14 I think)...and you just order away...no id checks, no reservations needed, and all the alcohol is included as well! The one restaurant I did not care for was a Japanese Steak House, but that was a coin flip anyway...What were we thinking!

One other thing we did while we were there was a zip-line through the rain forest...very cool!

Good luck and Congrats! Feel free to pm me if you have any more ?'s

Bonaire..easy, no hassle. Dive and Drive at your own pace! For a honeymoon...check out the plaza resort(probably the nicest), they also can add boat dives if you are REALLY lazy, but there's no need since they drop you right where you would have driven up anyway.

Bonaire! The island is sparsely populated and getting around is very easy. I went there fall of '07 and then went to Curacao fall of '08....Bonaire was better! I can't speak for other islands in the Antilles but Bonaire is a protected natural reef (no gloves, no taking shells, etc.) so this makes for great diving. Also, Bonaire is mostly shore diving so if you don't enjoy boats as much, you can drive up to any dive site and walk right in the water. This was a plus for me! Happy Diving!
