I finally started building the stand and canopy for my 120g tank. I bought the plans from RedEDGE2k1 (Dustin) back in September. The plans worked out great. I have the framework finished. Now I just need to add the molding, cabinet doors and then stain it.

This is how the wood looks before cutting.

One concern I have is the total weight of everything on my floor. Do I need to try to have the tank near an exterior wall or make sure its weight is across more than one floor joist? (The aquarium will be on the first floor.)

I will upload more photos as I add the finishing touches and stain.

Edit: Ooops, here are the photos.

Thanks for the compliments!

I'm located in the Lone Oak area of Paducah, KY. I used to live near Atlanta and I was an ARC member but I moved in 2007. I am glad I am finally getting back into the hobby.

Wow this is going slower than I hoped... Here are some updated photos. I still need to add the fluted boards on the front and sides, stain and add the doors.

This is where I add the trim and the decorative molding around the top edge of the stand and bottom edge of tha canopy.

Here's the last for now. I plan to have the doors and last bit of molding ready next weekend.

Nice... I am in the middle of a 120 stand and canopy build as well. Mine is a 48x24x24 though. Looking good...

Off topic i know but please post more pics of the car or give me your address. Id love to go for a ride lol. I love Classic!

What kind of finish are you gonna use?

Edit: The guys over at Sherwin Williams near the mall are very helpful actually the ones downtown Paducah are as well.

I'm not exactly sure but I plan to stain it a fairly dark color. I was told by someone that I need to use sander's sealing because of the mixed wood I am using. I hope it all comes out okay. I'll definitely be stopping by Sherwin Williams for my supplies. I heard Lowe's minwax was not the best product for me to use on this.
