I've now got the time, and the polished aluminum to do this.

Problem is, I don't really have a way to get the drawings the correct size so I can trace out the pieces. If anyone out there can help, I'd be very appriciative!

I'm looking at doing 2 of the 14's for my 75, and 2 of the 18's for the large frag tank (8'x4')

Those drawings aren't to scale... So you cant just print them out. There are a few options that I can think of though.

1. You may have to use a protractor and just measure the angles and create a drawing to scale by hand.
2. Get someone to draw it on CAD to scale and plot it.
3. Just put it into photoshop and eyeball it to scale. Dunno how well this would work.

That looks like a screen shot from CAD, so if I were you, I'd email them and ask if they will send you the CAD drawing. If you can get that, I could probably plot it for you.

Thats why I'm still trying to do this, 6 months after "starting" lol... I'll keep searching the forums for hours hoping I find a post or someone that will reply back :)

Let me see if I can get one of my CAD savvy buddies to draw it up. I'm not so good w/ CAD)but one of them could probably do it in ten minutes. If they'll do it, I'll print it to scale.

you da man!

I had my aluminum sheet precut to 12" wide. I guess I could have tried to cut it to the top pic (width wise), but the lower diagram where the reflector is traced out 11" wide and 72" long lets you use the sheet more efficiently.

Yeah, but the website doesn't mention that it is patented or for limited use. It is actually on a DIY page, so it is intended to be shared. I don't think it is usually illegal to share information like that, but I'm not sure. But, the page creator might have illegally wronged the creators of the luminarc by doing that, I dunno. I think if you're not producing these to sell, then it wouldn't be an issue at all.

do a search on RC. They have a drawing with exact measurements and such on a thread.

Yeah, that is understandable. The legalities are too complicated for me to completely understand sometimes.

We're good as long as we are not hosting the plans. I don't think there is anything wrong with posting a link either...IMHO.

Folks are okay to talk about making them, just can't post copyrighted materials.

That's just my opinion.

Good luck in making these...I had dreamed of doing this a few months ago but it seems beyond my current skillset.

I give. I'll order another new one and make my own pattern.

BTW, if you are looking for a great price on brand new Lumenarcs, check out:

$115 brand new! I've got enough sheet metal that if anyone wants to add ducts or something else custom to them, just let me know and I can help you out.

I've got no affiliation etc with the above posted link, they just have really good pricing on those reflectors :)

Well, forget that idea posted above. Seems I've recieved information from what I'd consider to be a reliable source that I might want to look elsewhere, or just buy direct from the MFG.
