I have a 110g and am running a Reef Octopus 150 in my sump which is actually a wet dry but I took out the bio balls and added live rock in their place. I have chaeto growing in the space below the LR. No sand bed in the sump though. I have about 100-120-lbs of LR in the tank and about 4 in of LS. I pretty large CUC in there too. My question is should I be running a canister filter or something too. My fish are doing great and corals are happy and growing, but I often notice particles in the water that look like dust, and I would like to clear it up..
Any advice? If I need a filter and recommendations?

If you have coral, that "dust" is their food floating around. I think you would really rather keep some of that in the tank.

I guess that's why they are happy and growing for me :) They seem to grow pretty fast.. faster than I thought they would anyway... I target feed most of them. The ones that put out feeder tentacles anyway.. and my huge hairy shroom. He is probably about 8-10 inches fully open and eats whole silversides. lol
