Do you consider your CUC expendable?

When moving to a new tank, do you try to grab as many snails as you can? I don't see too many thanks to my melanarus but there are some in there. I'm doing my tank swap tomorrow and I'm not sure if I should go digging through the sand to find snails or just go ahead and get a new CUC for the new tank?

Might as well.....you paid for them. Feed the tank and grab whatever comes up.

I try to keep anything I put in my tank alive as long as possible. Partly I feel responsible for them and partly I'm cheap and don't want to buy their replacements any sooner than I have to. When I change the floss in the back of my BC I spend 10 minutes enticing as many amphipods as possible to jump down into a cup before I throw it away. Pathetic, I know.

I fish them bad boys out when changing floss and reactor media.
That's how I harvest them and how I determine its getting close to time to get more . IMO there is absolutely nothing pathetic about that at all.
