Does anyone put awesome ship wreck decorations in their tank?

Wow, didn't realize this many thought something like this was stupid. I guess it hasn't been done well enough to prove otherwise!

I think the main thing that makes it look a bit odd ( if you will ) is the scale is so far off that it seems totally unrealistic. It makes a damsel appear the size of blue whale.

Resin ornaments are fine in either fresh or saltwater.

It's all a matter of personal taste.

If you like it - go for it. It's YOUR tank.

There's no "reason" why it's not done more in marine tanks, there are plenty of FO tanks with fake corals. Same difference.

please, I understand differing views...no worries..I am trying to explain the majority...

The majority (not all) of reef set ups are trying to recreate some natural setting that is in their mind, that can then be recognized by fellow hobbiests as a "Reef Tank"... WE WANT to have it as AUTHENTIC as possible! As real as possible! We try so hard to be what it looks like on a reef! Coral, Fish, Rock and all!
Then you see a plastic Pirate with a chest full of fake gold!
That's sooooo effing funny!

Right, because there are no shipwrecks on reefs, right? Wait....

I have seen simulated shipwreck scenes in public aquariums. Most recently at Ripleys in Gatlinburg.

I've never seen 10" ship wrecks on reefs. The scale is impossible to get right in the average aquarium and usually looks out of place. Doesn't mean some will not like it but regardless it is not realistic, aesthetically.
I'm sure the knot heads in Vegas will do it. I think they are tanked.

The OP asked if anyone had a large shipwreck, so i guess i was assuming we were talking about something other than a store bought plastic/resin ship. I was thinking something custom and the entire size of the tank.

Nah, I was asking if someone out one of those 3 piece ship wrecks in their tank. Nothing super insane, just fun and quirky

Georgia Aquarium recently added this Eel Tank
