Does my urchin look ok?

So I was looking at my urchin and he seems to be a little less spiky than usual and seems to have a black spot around his mouth with some pods hanging around. Is this normal? Is it just some algae he has “stuck in his teeth”? Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure that's any indication, I've got many spines shed from urchins over a couple years in several tanks, and all seem halthy.

He’s acting normal. Still eating and moving around. Just worried about the black spot near the mouth. Had never really looked at him up close so not sure if it’s supposed to look like that
