Killing aiptasia with a laser??? If so, I better hang onto my wicked laser... Now I want to find one to shoot LOL.

I think that a couple of people have one...

Every time that some one talks about using one, there is a warning about the dangers. So I recommend, do the research and protect yourself. If you are in need of a tank to test it on, I think I might be able to recommend one:-)

Edit: Many of the lasers used are around 1.4 or 1.5 watts I always think of this when people talk about them

Oh yeah I love mine. You can hear them sizzle while they melt. VERY helpful tool. Mine is 2w. I put it away for a while and forgot about it. Now I have to go charge that sucker!

I have a class 4 laser I would LOVE to try lol. Anyone near the buford sugar hill area :-)

I'll have mine with me as soon as I buy new batteries. Feel free to bring yours. The wicked lasers are 999mw right? I think they have to be under 1w to be classified as legal. Higher wattage ones have to be assembled but they sell them as a kit.

If your game, I'm totally down to try it LOL.

They come standard at 1W up to 1.4W. These are the exact lasers the media and local officals are in up roar over. I was going to sell it to fund other project for the tank, but know I see a value to keeping it. I could be like the ghost busters of aiptasia for the ARC! Who you gonna call...

That actually is a good thought. I wonder if any of those could be used to keep GSP in check. I love having some GSP in my tank, but there doesn't seem to be any such thing as a little </em>GSP.

Yes they work but they do not completely eliminate aiptasia. It will only reappear or worse, come back stronger than before. Also, the charge time is ridiculous - for every 1-3 aiptasia zapped, there is a 25 minute to an hour wait time for another charged strike, that is, if you have big/small ones to treat. Btw, in lieu of a friend-of-a-friend, I might have used yours Jett, ;)

So far, what has worked for me is a C'pband butterfly (fingers crossed). Peppermint shrimps also do a great job, and if you have a fuge, leave some in there as well...

I wonder if the laser gives them time to release their planula or if it is just a matter of not killing all the cells that are attached in the pores of the rock that might allow them to multiply?

Heath allowed me to do a test fire on some Palys... and well NOTHING! His one eye "Jack Sparrow" clown was too curious and I couldn't get a long enough bead for it to heat up. Think I need to invest in a focus lense.
