I am going to make my seaclone skimmer into something useful. I have tried selling it before. Can not hardly give one away!

I have searched online and it seems that some turn it into a reactor. I am thinking about using it for carbon. Most reactors have water flowing against gravity to create a fluidized bed. However, I always read that we dont want carbon to tumble. For that reason, can't the water flow with gravity when using carbon. Anyone have a reason why I should be concerned about reversing the flow?

Edit: I am open to other suggestions and would love to know if you have done something with one also.

Downward flow is fine, just try to settle the media bed as much as possible. You want to avoid channels where the water flows easily. Maybe even try a filter pad on top to even the rush of water hitting the top of the media and washing out a channel. Make sense?

Yep.

I am thinking that this will be hanging on the inside wall of my sump. Pump water in and let it flow out of the bottom.
