Do many have to do this?!

I've had to turn my effluent down to a drop every few seconds as my calcium got to 500, but my Alk was just 6.5 dkh!?

Got it back into the mid 7s and I'm still slowly dosing it, but how often do you guys find a need to do something like this? Guess the bio load and my feeding is eating up the Alk faster than the corals are using the calcium?

High effluent = raising alk
Low effluent = raising CA

My alk got so high (ask Barry) - I was competing with a car battery...

My CA and alk stay balanced with my setup. I also do not run my tank at unnaturally high levels.

Dave did a great post on ca reactors

So raise my effluent rate up and continue to monitor?

I had dropped it because my calcium was 460-475.
