I am planning on getting a calcium reactor withing the first year of having my tank up. In the mean time I am wanting to dose to maximize my SPS growth. With the BRS powerbuy going on soon I am wanting to take advantage of the good pricing and order some stuff from them. On my last tank I just did regular water changes and had great success. This time around I'm wanting to focus on mainly SPS. I've never dosed a tank so I don't have any idea on what to get.

Any suggestions on what to start off with? I'll be starting with frags but want to give them optimum conditions to grow

Thanks

Tyson

I dose standard two part myself (cal/alk), but I'm starting to lean towards just doing weekly water changes. Then again, I don't grow a ton of SPS either.

Other than 2 part alot of ppl with a bunch of SPS dose kalk in an ATO or continuous drip. i dose kalk in my ato (1 tbl per gallon) but i dont have hardly any sps, thinking of moving to a drip for more stability to add some more down the line...just be careful and do a ton more research to see what will work best for you temporarily....who knows, you may prefer that method over an expensive reactor.

While i collect all the parts for my reactor set up I've been dosing the BRS recipe 1 and it does a good job. I don't want to invest in a dosing pump that i may not need after the reactor is up and running so I dose 35ml in the morning, 35ml at night by hand.

its all personal pref and ofcoarse your needs, as far as water volume and coral density. i have about 250 gallons total with a 186 gallon display, stacked full of sps and lps. i use all ELOS products bc they are so concentraited. i dont have a reactor yet either but my coral growth is unbelievable. so like they said do some reasearch and see what best suits youre needs
