After doing Bryopsis research, it seems tech m is the only solution. Just so I don't order too much (there are no lfs's in Charlotte worth going to) do you guys think the 16oz bottle is enough and which mg test kitshould I get? I don't need anything fancy, but I do have sps and inverts so I don't want the mg to get too far above the recommended 1700 level so I kill too much.

I can't remember the amount that is suggested per gallon but the dose time is two weeks. Figure out how much your 14 should get (I think it'll be about 5 ml /day but don't quote me on that one) daily, multiply that out by at least 2 weeks and you'll know how much you need.

As for test kits....I currently use a Red Sea Pro kit but have also used SeaChem kits for testing Mg...they both seem to be good kits, easy to use.

Jorge of Pure Reef told me 1 cc (or ml) per gallon of water per day. I have been doing that since Sunday - so far so good, but too early to tell. I am testing every two or three days.

So far so good. I am up to about 1,550 per ELOS...I was under 1,000. Inverts looks better; I guess my mag was way too low. The bryopsis is thinning to be thinning. We'll see. Thanks for asking. I am sure the a reason for my next question, but why not keep Mg (using TechM) at 1,800 all of the time?

What was explained to me was that the coral can only use so much and so it would be like you taking to many vitamins your body tosses what you can't use.

new elos kit for 27 on ebay. same if not cheaper than the rest, so went with that. thanks for the updates. I'm gonna start dosing once the kit comes in.

Turns out gsp hates the treatment as well. I dont mind, but it wont open and my acans are sad looking as well. My sps seems fine surprisingly (less extension, but not worrysome)

Interestingly, my GSP is fine....so is everything else. Maybe, my dose isn't high enough? I am running at 1800 for several days now and have had to add 100 cc a day to my 55 gal. 55 cc per day wasn't increasing it fast enough. I use a Elos Mg test kit. Bryopsis is much less dense but not gone. I am contemplating a water change but will have to add the TechM to it and increase the Mg to 1800 to the new water.

I've only tested weekly (not by choice, just hadn't gotten to it) and I went from 1100 last monday to only 1400 today. So I'm not sure anymore if the gsp is related or coincidence so I'm doing a water change just in case.

Yes. I experienced the same slow rise....so I doubled the dosage. All still seems fine including the bryopsis LOL.
