i have heard that most of the time tanks are only tempered on the bottom. Does any one know what the chances are that my tank is tempered on all sides. It is 45 gallon, 15" tall. I am going to try and find outwho made the tank i got it second had. If any one knows of companies that temper all of the glass please let me know

thank you

Top fin is tempered all around and all-glass has the bottom only tempered.

the one i have is an all glass aquarium. The manufactured dated is 1991. do you think Im safe to drill it

You should be fine for the back. Make sure you use a proper tool and have water running over where your cutting. You may want to dbl check though. Though I doubt they used tempered glass if the tank is that old and even now they only temper the bottom. If the tank is that old, make sure you check the silicone. The last thing you want is that giving out. Ask around before you commit to cutting.

yeah chrisjet is going to help me with the cutting. I think i am going to go for it and hope for the best

well we got my tank drilled yesterday and it all worked out fine, I am one more step closer to filling the tank. Also cut all my baffles to go in the 25 gallon i will be using for my sump just have to silicone them in place. I have to build my overflow box still, any ideas of how to attach it to the glass it will be made out of 1/4 acrylic.
