So after about a month and a half I finally got my dwarf lionfish to eat frozen krill. It does like the freeze dried. Are there any foods similar in size to krill that may be more nutritional for it. Or will krill be ok till it gets bigger. It is only 1 1/2" to 2" tops. Silversides are longer than it is.
What is everyone's ideas on how to get a fat and happy lionfish feeding frozen food.

Hakiri, Jumbo Mysis, also try small peices of salmon and other fresh seafood.
Are you just feeding thru the water column, or using some sort of stick or tongs? These things are good, as the Lion will eventually associate the stick, tongs, whatever with food and eat whatever you put in with it.
Try pieces about the size of the lions eye. (The stomachs of wild lions have been shown to contain many small critters as opposed to larger ones, so that seems to be the preference)
A krill only diet will keep your lion alive, but is not a very complete diet.
Also, you may already know this, but it is better to feed your lion every other day, not every day to give him time to completely digest his food and keep gasses from building up which can cause health issues.
Lions are awesome fish. Good luck with the little guy.

^thanks for the info. I am just glad he is eating something besides feeders. I tryed the stick it doesn't like it. I think it has learned that I am the feeder now. To get it to eat it the first time I used 2 pound test fishing line tied in a slip knot with a piece of rubble for weight. Now if eats out of the water column. But I did not think 100% krill would be good for it.

Just an update my little ole lion now eats frozen mysis with the rest of the fish. I guess he needed the competition in the tank for him to try it.
Either that or peer pressure.
