eBay led fixture thoughts

I found this led fixture for similar price to the other one people are talking about, has anyone seen this or have any thoughts?

These LEDs are driven to the max (141W / 48 = 2.94W) that significantly shortens their lifespan and pRoduces heat.
60deg optics are pretty "spotty" unless you use a lot of these fixtures or have a relatively small tank.
Lastly, the white/blue ratio of any commercial fixture was never too pleasing to my eyes...

Also what are EPI Leds? Never heard of them.

No idea I just saw it, so the regular fixture with no optics would be a best bet besides the "custom" one?

In my opinion, I would caution anyone buying from overseas vendors, unless the seller absolutely GUARANTEES that the fixture will function on 60Hz United States electrical power, and that replacement bulbs/LEDs are readily available. You don't want to have to chuck it later because the bulbs or LEDs cannot be bought anywhere convenient. Also, you might want to be prepared to have to change out the plug on it to fit your home outlets.

Nope it's around a 14k. I think the color is perfect. Just a tad bluer than my 2 Blue 1 white PC that I was using. I guess if I had a full canopy I might be inclined to add a blue stunner strip but it's not a priority.

Rob what's ideal for a good 20k look

20k (real 20k...) is probably 45 BLUE and 10 WHITE
A nice 18k look (similar to radiums can be achieved with a 35 Blue, 17 White and 3 semi-UV chips

Would one of those 30/25 units be enough for a 40 breeder?

I wouldn't recommend the unit for a 36" tank.. even with no optics, and 6" above the water.

So uses similar power as a 6 bulb t5 on a 40 breeder. I would be curious to compare par and a single 250w radium with good reflectors as well

A 400W would be comparable...

That's all depending on the optics in use.

Darn. I have a single 250w HQI with a 14k Phoenix in it now, but the fixture is literally being held together by paper clips and bent pieces of metal hanger, so I figured if I need to buy a new fixture, I might as well go LED.
