I have never seen a member with one (just at one store) in real life. I am just curious what others who may have owned one think about them?

There have been a couple Members that have had them, but not many.

I think most folks familiar with them will tell you they make a nice looking rimless tank. But the main issue against them is perceived value vs cost. Elos tanks and equipment is expensive.

I have not owned one, but former sponsor Einstein Aquatics is/was an Elos Dealer, and I was there enough to see Elos equipment quite often.

Basically, IMO, you can buy a nice tank and stand of similar volume at about what, maybe 1/4 to 1/3 the cost of a similar Elos setup. Some of their stands, for example, the stand in the Elos Mini setup, didn't even have a bottom in it, and looked like Formica laminated particle board to me.

So in other words, you just need to decide if the cost is justified for you, as what and how much of your money you spend is a very personal thing. I use Alpha Vertex skimmers. Some folks wouldn't own one because they are so expensive. The cost is justified for me.

I will tell you that of the couple Elos setups that people have tried to sell on the FS Forum here, they have sat a long time, because no one is willing to pay the kind of money wanted for them even used.

If you have not already seen it, you might look at the Elos USA Sponsor forum on Reef Central. Lots of owners active on there.
