Emerald crabs....would you keep one?

I have always used emeralds as part of my clean up crews for over ten years and they did a good job. Recently I saw one sitting atop and picking apart a staghorn eating the polyps...he and the other two now live in the sump. No more emeralds in my tanks.

Jeff,
If thats the one you got from me, he never bothered any of the fish I had in the tank. He just seemed to cruise around and pick at the rocks and obviously ate just fine lol. He started out very small but turned into that monster. I had forgot all about him to be honest.

I have 6 now, had them many times.

Ive never had an issue with them at all and like them way better then snails.

I had 2 green and one red. Caught the red one "red" handed eating the new growth tips on my staghorn (he's no longer in the tank). I noticed last night that someone scraped off the new growth tip on my red digitata. I'm highly suspicious of the male but did not catch the culprit. If it happens again the male is going in the sump to see if it stops. The 2 greens so far have been model citizens. I also have a purple firefish, yasha goby/pistol shrimp pair. Haven't had problems with them going for the gobies but the pistol shrimp may protect the yasha and the firefish lives in a cave the crabs can't fit in.

I had one and thought he was cool until I noticed he was hunting my yellow watchman goby. Yes, hunting. Chased the poor girl everywhere so I gave it away. Not sure if I'll try another again or not.
