Emergency: Seal Broke

well i hope so but just noting the fact is im still loosing fish, prob from the poor water conditions and stress so we will see

gmpolan - I can hold some corals if you need me to and possibly a fish dependent on type/size - I can come pick up this afternoon - I work off Windy Hill & 75 and will be here til 3 or so - let me know ASAP

I have a 210, with plenty of room on the SB to set corals

I wouls hate for you to sit and wait almost a month while your stuff perishes before your eyes

EDIT: PS - i forgot - I have a 25 gal eclipse in my Living room that has no fish, its my QT/Observation tank (couple peices of LR) that I can put fish in if they can handle a 25

Gary, ill be at work all day till about five or so and yeah that would be great but the fish are a large purple tang about 5 inches or so and med size yellow (if those work). The corals i think will be ok since they are in a concetrated tank by themselves which is not big enough for the fish. If your available later this evening send me a pm and ill give you my info

I also sent some of the surrounding fish stores to see if they could house them first, ill keep you posted on that as well.

I dont think I could hold the tangs - already have a 5" regal in my DT and actually had to tear out all my rock to remove my yellow a while back. If you want to try the yellow in my 25 I could do that for you but unfortunately wont be avail this evening - just til about 3 today..

do you think any chemical warfare is going to happen in the coral tank? thats what i would be worried about

its alright thanks for the offer, i might move the yellow over to the 30 gallon but that might be kind of small, what you think? med size for a 30 gallon?

define chemical warfare?

Its not ideal but im not sure what they are in right this second - ive seen them at LFS in smaller tanks for about the same amount of time - if its not a long term situation then Im not sure what choice you have really, unless a LFS can step up and take em in.

Im not sure what kind of corals you have but a bunch of them in a tight space can start competing with one another for space and can nuke each other out, even if they arent touching - i read a thread the other day abotu a guy who had all his corals in a tub (same situation as you) and he lost the whole tub from the corals fighting each other.....really depends on the corals i guess. someone else here prolly has a much better explanation and facts on the matter.

If it's brand new saltwater, did you acclimate them? If not, it could have caused some stress. Try testing the water parameters just to make sure everything's in line, if you need some test kits, I've got some Saliferts you can use.

Just had a thought. You put the fish in your old tank with new saltwater and no liverock, right? Just power heads and heaters? If that's the case, then there's no bacteria to process the waste they produce, and there's nothing for the bacteria to develop on (porous rock or some other media). You're probably experiencing an ammonia spike, which will kill the fish.

I hope I'm wrong about that, but if not, transfer as much liverock as you can to the tank with the fish and do daily water changes while monitoring.

Its a mix of that brian (old water plus new), but ill try testing them this evening...like im only trying to look out for the better interest of the fish. So ive decided to sell the yellow tang in hopes of him living but i really wish i could find someone to house my purple tang for a couple weeks..ill end up selling if i cannot just to save him but like i said i dont want to let him go.

Yeah, a couple corals and the two tangs as i have no where else to store them.

see if a local store can hold them for you... I know that one of the sponsors would be willing to help out if you can get the fish to them

i asked one local and am waiting for a response back, im selling the yellow to grouper...so besides that i think ill be ok. Ron, please pm the other in case mine falls thru

OK, good. I wasn't sure if you had any liverock in there or not.
