I have a green torch coral I got from Seth. I love the thing, but the other night I looked at it and one of the heads was all retracted, and it looked like the tentacles had been cut of with a pair of scissors. I thought it had died from a conflict with an RBTA, but couldn't really do much about it, so I cut the dead head off and went about my business. I looked again today and another head looked the same, tentacles cut off. I then saw an emerald crab perched a the base of the coral. A google search turned up lots of posts about emeralds tearing tentacles off of Euphyllias without any real reason for it. Needless to say, he is out of that tank.

While I did not catch him in the act, I think this was the cause. Oh well, an Iodine dip and back into the tank for the last head.

This was 3 years ago. Brian brought home a small Frogspawn frag and his emerald cleaned the slime off it. That specimen never damaged the coral, which later outgrew the tank.
