So I ordered 120 pounds of Seaflor special grade for my new 75 gallon and after putting it all in, I realized that I was getting into dsb territory as the depth ranges from 2.5" to >4" in some areas. I've heard the dangers of having a dsb in tank and considering that I'm definitely going to have to move the tank in two years, I've been considering doing an external dsb.
My idea is to remove sand from my DT to get my sand bed depth to the 2" to 2.5" range and put all the extra sand into a 10g. I was considering running the input from my overflow but I'm running a herbie-style and I was worried that splitting it like that would mess up the syphon. So instead, I was considering using two Hydor Centifugal 160s running from and back to the first chamber of my sump. I was also going to put a Koralia Nano 425 in the dsb chamber to facilitate surface agitation, maybe eventually I will add some crabs and snails to it as well. Ideas?
