Fading taro tree

Has anyone ever seen a taro tree slowly fade over the course of a year ? It appears healthy it just very slowly gets smaller. It gets moderate light. It gets moderate flow. I placed a piece of it in a higher flow/light area and it didnt seem to make a difference. I weekly feed the tank with seachem reef plus and zooplankton. The only thing Ive ever lost is a birds nest when I got distracted by Christmas and let the nitrates slip up.

For the most part its a very healthy tank with consistently good and stable parameters.

Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do?
