feeding acans

Mysis works good. I found thawing the mysis in a cup of water and using a turkey baster works best. Try to shoot a bit of the water from the cup at the acans and see if they'll open up with the lights on. Otherwise, wait till after the lights are off for a while.

It seems to me that my acans close up when the lights are off and they open when the lights are on.

My acans do the same, ready to feed all day but deflate as soon as the lights go out. I have my acan colonies situated so that when I feed the tank the flow blows the mysis, flake, whatever I'm feeding at the moment down the corner of the tank over the acans before dispersing through the tank. Mine seem to be extremely sticky because if it gets close, it sticks.

Mine look normal with the lights on, but when I feed the fish they send out their feeders. I hit them with some mysis from a turkey baster at least once per week.

i try and feed mine a mix of cyclopeeze, chopped mysis and brine shrimp once a week too. Lights on and feeding tentacles extended.

Some will also cut a Coke bottle in half and put it over the frag/colony and squirt the food in there. This will keep your fish and CUC from picking the food out of the acans' mouths.

AHHH... so the trick is to only feed them when their feeding tentacles are extended. I have cyclopeezes and mysis, but no brine. I think i'll pick some up tonight. thanks guys!

I turn off all the pumps before feeding as well. No fish in the tanks with my acans since I had to move them because my angel was picking at them.

I don't normally feed my coral directly but I just a rainbow super ultra acan and I want to make sure it grows and stays alive

I don't feed mine directly at all. They only extend their feeding tentacles in the dark anyway, and they are growing so I'm going to keep going like I am unless something changes.

I just toss some rods in with pumps off and whatever gets to them gets to them, the fish get what doesnt....I probably need to stop though as my sandbed is building up some algae

I flood my tank with Rod's too. It's good for everything  I need to get more crabs.

I don't have any Acans but I try to feed my CC's during the day and sometimes they will take them. But I fed them at night with the tentacles extended last night for the first time and it worked a lot better.

My micromussa's will eat night or day.

I dose a little aqua vitro or DT's before I feed mysis or cyclopse to get all of my corals excited ready to eat before my big meal
