Whatever I see that smile for the camera
That is so ******! And the squammy? Whoa! (in the Joey Lowernce voice from oh yeah my sister's favorite show.....Blossom)

I can get a few, but he's so fast there is usually some blur in the pics. I love this fish! Yeah the squammy is pretty big....I can't wait till my gigas is that large. Should be about a year or so...he's growing pretty quick. Last one of the Sohal that I have handy...sorry to the OP for the slight hijack.

Grazing madman just like my clown tang used to be. (2yrs and heater malfunctioned RIP)
What's the growth rate on the different clams?

Derasa, Squamosa and Gigas can grow 4"+ a year. Crocea and Maxima, roughly 1-2" a year. Max sizes are roughly 16" for squammys, 12" for maximas, 20" for derasa, 9" for crocea and gigas can grow as large as 4 feet! Yeah he grazes all the time, even at night. This guys is always on the hunt for food.

Oh, I should have left well enough alone! I moved the crocea higher as suggested, but it got him noticed by my old blue fin pygmy angel. I actually saw him take a chunk out of that beautiful blue mantel. Now he nibs at it regularly, causing the clam to basically just stay shut - NOT an acceptable situation. I spent much of yesterday trying to catching the SOB, to no avail - too skiddish, too quick, too much hiding space:

Does anyone have a trap I can borrow - I hate to buy one for this one occasion. I am going to be in ATL on Tuesday and could pick it up then. LMK if you can help.

Best way to catch a fish....wait a good few hours after the lights are off (but make sure it's fully dark in the room)...then pop the lights on. Usually the fish will come out in a daze. I've caught many hard to catch fish this way. Sorry to hear about the Angel nipping at the clam, but almost all species of angels LOVE clams.

I had a pair of maroon clowns that liked to eat clam mantle....they are gone now. Good luck getting that fish!
