I am using New Life Spectrum pellets. When I feed with the return pump on, most of the food ends up in the return box. If I turn off the return pump, the food just floats on the top.
Is there a food you guys suggest that sinks faster?

Thanks

I use Ocean Nutrition Formula 1 & 2 sinking pellets. They're small, just turn off the in tank pumps and put in a few at a time while the fish swim around and eat. Also good for shrimp, my cleaner and peppermints love them, and LPS corals.

You get those at the LFS?

I've never had a problem with mine floating, they sink just fine. I actually got mine at a Petco (I don't have the wide selection of LFS' that yall have up in ATL).

There are a couple of slow sinking pellets that I've found at Petsmart that I use (I don't have a quality LFS near me). I've also found some sinking disks that are good for herbivores (though the exact name escapes me). They are about the size of a dime, maybe a bit smaller. My guys go NUTS over them. If its a sinking pellet.....it will say so on the label.

Yep. Honestly not even 5 min. 60 sec will work fine just to get the air out and soten them a little for your fish to enjoy. Soften them too much and they will break away in the flow and when you fish hit them creating more waste.

I put some of the Spectrum in with my frozen food and when it soaks up the juices, they sink and break apart nicely.

Pinch it and put in front of a power head pointing away from your return and it will "blow" it everywhere.

otherwise it does float and gets skimmed off quick.

I did what you said, and it works. I just hold my fingers under the water with the food for a couple of seconds and let them go. Sink right to the bottom.
