My tank is at my office where I can enjoy it Monday through Friday 8:30 till 6:30. My babies get fed once or twice a day a variety of flakes, mysis, brine. My question relates to the weekends and so normally I feed late Friday afternoon and maybe can come in once on Saturday and again on Sunday. Sometimes I can't make it on Sunday and so it's first thing Monday morning before I am able to feed. Once I missed both Saturday and Sunday!

I've got a variety of tangs, wrasses, flame hawk, flame angel, Chromis, etc. Should I be overly concerned about missing a day or two and that an occasional fast is healthy for the fish or is it like my dog/cat where a missed meal is a reason to call PETA?

How big is the tank and how established? I let my fish get fat. If i'm gone more than a weekend I have friends come care for them, but I have a very active pod family and live rock with naturally growing food. I know some folks feel a schedule is needed, but the reality is fish are opportunity feeders, they don't get 3 hots and a cot in the wild. But I don't get along with PETA in general so I might be wrong, just my thoughts (-=

Not saying I advocate this, but have you seen leng sy's tank that went with feeding for a year or so?

I advocate feelings as frequently as required. I feed my 93 once a day heavily, and my 210 twice a day. I do a heavy feeding in the morning, and a light feeding in the evenings.

The 210 gets fed more because the fish are large, and I find that well fed fish are less likely to show aggression.

The two fish in the 93 that require a heavy feeding schedule are asleep after 1pm. (female leopard wrasse and female chaoti wrasse). The copperband is ALWAYS awake, but I think that deprivation of reward when begging just leads to strength. Meaning that he knows that the morning time is prepared foods, and all other times are aiptasia and pod time. There are no aiptasias in the DT.

maybe buy some magnetic clips and hang some algae that will hold up a day or two.....nori wont, but maybe broccoli or romaine?

I had a 14g Biocube at my office. I would feed on Friday before I left for the weekend.. I never had a problem.

have you considered an atuo feeder? my tank is at my office too and im out of town usually 2-3 days a week. i set up a little eheim feeder to feed 2xday and im good to go. when im in the office i will feed other things but this ensures the fish are getting something.
