Filefish success rate ?

I have not caught mine red handed eating coral - but I wouldn't be surprised.

He does eat any snail he can blow over (and he does actively attempt to blow them over when he notices one), he'll eat shrimp if he runs across one - he does NOT touch Aiptasia. He doesn't mess with any other fish but he will get a little aggressive eating nori when I put some on a clip.

I do not know if mine was captive or not - I think I got him from Pure Reef - or maybe The Fish Store

I’ve heard they’ll nip. I never had a problem with mine. It was a good fish. Really cool. It did spook easily I feel like and ended up in the overflow from time to time.

My filefish ate every aptasia in every nook and cranny in my tank. In one week. Some spots , I’m like no way he can get that one. Like magic, all gone. I work 12 hour shifts. If I kept it fed, it would Never have touched my zoas. Specifically, the really small zoas. But, someone else told me theirs never touches the aptasia at all. I saw Nemo in Stone Mountain have one for $35 yesterday. Buy it, then let it do its job and then trade on Arc or Facebook. I got mine from there so that filefish got to be from same place mine was from

I've had one in my 120 for about 6 months now. no more aptasia... and no nibbling of coral or other fish/inverts. Thus far he or she has been a perfect model citizen :angela:
