Filter Sock Life

What's the lifespan of a filter sock on a 2 month old system? My Eshopps sump cam with 2 filter socks which I clean and exchange regularly. I find that as time passes they don't last as long without clogging.

I make sure I get them as clean as possible using the bleach and washing machine method which seems to clean them up somewhat. I assume that the early stages of cycling the aquarium takes it toll on the socks as well. Should I look into getting replacements?

Oh.................there's nice stuff in the socks and the skimmer is kickin some butt!

I replace mine every 3 monthes, with a bi weekly change/ wash. After so many washes and reuse, they dirty up too quickly and just not worth the water to wash them anymore

I have some that are about 4 yrs old, they still go thru the bleach wash..
BRS has 'em, I just ordered another dozen, the old ones will get relegated to my curing and QT systems. Mark the old ones with a Magic marker so you can ID them for what use.
