:mad2: Since my 90 has finished cycling I wanted a week or so until my tank showed descent signs of algae growth before I added members f the CUC. Well went to LFS and purchased some cerith snails, a few scarlett hermits, and a few elecrtric blue hermits and one turbo snail to start. After a few days of non-movement I decided to check the Turbo snail, and as I rolled him with my scrapper all his insides poured out and the most aweful, foulest stench that I ever smelled along with it . Unfortunately I wasn't expecting this So I had no net ready and my MP-40's were wide open so I spent most of my day fishing out rotten snail particles from my tank. Lesson learned...? Expect the unexpected and I just might leave turbo alone for a awhile:tongue:

Turbo snails are extremely intolerant to temp & ph......no high temp or salinity swings

I floated the bag for 20min. and drip him and other snails for over an hour however he is the only one not to make it.

He might have been on the way out when he was at your LFS and the trip did him in.

Snails are hit or miss. And it sucks if you buy nice mexican turbos for $5-$7 ea and have them kick off.

With the bigger snails a very slow acclimation is absolutely key (which it sounds like you did). They also require a LOT of food/algae. Like more than you'd think. And sometimes they just kick off for no reason.

Yeah, the turbo was a complete loss. After that smell I think I'm going to let these little snails do the job. So now I'm at approx 20 ceriths, 20 nerites(these guys are little bulldozers) 20 small hermits and two emerald crabs.
