First sps under led how slow to acclimate them?

I just got my first few sps frags (pink bird nest, pink lace, couple acro's) and have them on my sandbed at the moment (obviously not where they need to be for proper par).

I have a 210 gal (6x2x28") with Reefbreeders photon32's that max out at 80% blue and 55% white channels and was wondering if anyone could give me a good baseline as to how slow to acclimate them to my led's (how slowly should I raise them up in the tank)?

My lights are 7" off the water and my sandbed is 25" below the waterline. So a guesstimate would put my par at 150ish at the sandbed.

Thanks

I would leave them on the sandbed for a week then put them into place where u want them. If they have never been under led before don't be surprised if they lose some color. It will come back. I grow my birds nest on the sandbed anyway under led so that frag can go high or low your call.

The guy said they were under his marineland led's strips.

You wouldn't slowly raise them up?

Congrats on taking the step to sps .
Are your led's dimmable ?
You could always dial down the power output to about 35-40% and just give it a little every 2nd or 3rd day untill your back to where you want it , This is what I do.

Chances are it won't be to stressful if they were already under led's to begin with.

Before I had dimmer capabilities I started in the sand same as you have and took my time moving them up over 10-14 days. That may be longer than needed but I'd rather be safe than sorry because I have bleached/killed a few pieces of sps in the past due to lighting.

I'd start them on the sand bed and see how they react to different places in the tank.

I wouldn't reduce the intensities of your LEDs for new corals, could throw your current corals out of whack.

That's what I thought best too; not changing my intensity as it would affect established corals.

although this may have been what they were under I doubt the frags grew IN under a marineland led strip.

If it were me Id just set them where you want them after a few days and be done with it. If your water parameters are good and so forth you shouldn't have any short term issues.

just my 2 cents
