First SW fill

When starting a new tank which do you find easier, fill the tank with RODI and mix the salt in the tank then add rock and sand, or the other way around, put rock and sand in then add premixed salt?

I don't yet have a mixing station but plan on 2 20-30g Brute cans. I could go ahead and get 1 container and it would take 3 to fill my tank. Either way will take a while (especially since I'm traveling again next week :mad2.

I would think that this

would work better. I tried mixing everything in the tank and talk about a dust storm, it still worked just took a while to get particulates to settle out ended up using a flocuation/ coagulation aid.

If you need, I can loan you 2 55 gallon mixing containers.. only catch is that I'm a bit of a drive for you. Let me know if you want them and any RO/DI

X2 the brute trashcans makes it a lot easier

I appreciate the offer an suggestion. I just bout new rodi filters for the start up and I just need to get off my lazy but and make a mixing station. I've got it all sketched out at least lol. I'll get a container today and start pumping out water.

I've done it both ways adding premixed salt water is so much easier I just mix one bucket and mix the saltwater at a higher level and mix it in with the rodi I added straight to the tank.
