So i am about to set up my GFO reactor from BRS and i was curious how much media to put in? Ive heard to start slow but what is considerably slow??

Ill be using a maxi jet to feed it if that makes a difference.

Any input would be great...thanks guys

use the gfo calculator on the BRS site to see how much but for your tank I would start with about a 1/4 cup and go from there. Just let the gfo tumble a little in the cannister - is it a dual reactor or just gfo?

from BRS site:
Granular, Pellet, and HC GFO Instructions
For Granular and Pellet GFO start with 1 tablespoon per 4 gallons of water (16 tbsp = 1 cup). After 4-8 weeks the aquarium will have adjusted to lower nutrient levels and the amount of GFO can be increased up to 2 tablespoons per 4 gallons of water. For HC GFO start with 1 tablespoon per 8 gallons of water (16 tbsp = 1 cup). After 4-8 weeks the aquarium will have adjusted to the low nutrient level and the amount of GFO can be increased up to 2 tablespoons per 8 gallons of water. Change all three types of GFO when phosphate levels rise or algae growth becomes visible (4-8 weeks).

Single as im not gonna add carbon yet, no need but i am getting some HA

Im thinking of starting with 2.5 cups for a 230 gallon system, any comments on that?

thats what I did, just leave room in the reactor for the media to tumble
