Hello all! I have been in the hobby for some time and for financial purposes always bought frags to keep my investment low. Well, inevitability got the best of me! I have started having to frag my frags. I did not want to just cut large chunks and have replica colonies. Some of the frags I got, had multiple morphs of zoas/palys mixed in and me being slightly O.C.D. I wanted these separated and clean looking. So...I got a little cut happy! I now have several small frags of misc. different zoas. I have been a gardener in my time, and most clones, or repotted plants need some shade to acclimate and "spread their roots." Do frags need a little "low light time" to handle the stress or is it advised to give them high light to boost strength for healing? I have browsed a bit on the web and not found much conclusive. The "how to"s I have read just say sit back and enjoy.....I do not know if I turn on my MH tonight they will be shocked and melt or if they NEED me to turn them on.

You should keep them exposed to roughly the same light that they are used to. In your case, it's easy. It's harder when you can't know what kind of light intensity they have been under previously.

In saying this you mean purchasing a new frag? I would hope someone would send you home with an already healed frag. I have purchased frags from my LFS and acclimated them to my heavy lighting. Some have not done so well. Most of them opened back up within and hours time, some of them not so well. I will try and post pics tonight. I fragged 4 different types of zoas, a birds nest and a trumpet.
