Fish eating poop? yuuk

Normal? My powder brown tang drops a load and the coral beauty decides its lunch time. Yuk.

Anyone else's fish do this? The coral beauty looks fine, its just disgusting.

Achilles tang in the wild or at least in Hiawai follow schools of yellow tangs and eat their waste

A bit out of the realm of the ocean, but.....they did a study on pig farming. Three groups of pigs were housed in a terraced formation. The top set was fed good quality food. When the first group pooped, they washed the excrement down into the feeding troughs of the second group. After the second set of swine ate, their poo was washed down into the third groups troughs. And then the third set ate.

After the experiment was over, the pigs were weighed and their health was evaluated, then all three groups were slaughtered. The meat was evaluated. The second, third and the first set were of equal size and quality.

We as humans just choose to NOT recycle our dinners. :sick:

There actually are facilities that are set up like this...but with the lowest level being a pond housing catfish...that's why you need to check out seafood's origins before consuming it.

Far be it from me to be gross, BUT.....where I come from, we fish. Catfish makes for the best fish fries. What do you suppose catfish eat in the lake and river? Their bottom feeders. Whats on the bottom? POO

Sounds like perfectly acceptable "green" methods to me. Catfish eat junk in nature anyways. Now if they could find a way to make the catfish have a hint of bacon flavor, they might be onto something.
