I've been looking for fish to put in my 10gallon reef tank. When looking at species lists most of them say a minimum of 30 gallons.. but I read about people on here keeping the same fish in smaller tanks.
Does anyone know of a place or a list of species to keep in very small tanks?
I know all of these would be too much together, but my favs are firefish, clowns, and pearly jawfish. Any suggestions?

you could do a clown, or maybe a chromis. Pearly jawfish needs about a 4" sand bed - not sure about a fire fish.

i agree nano-reef.com is a great site. its common practice almost to keep a pair of clowns in a ten gallon nano, although personally i think theyd be happier in at least a 20. i think one clown in a ten gallon would be okay. they dont always need to be in pairs like most people think. damsels would be a good choice as well. there are some really pretty damsels out there, but also be careful cuz some of them get pretty big. firefish would be okay prolly, but have a secure top cuz they like to go carpet diving. six line wrasses, seahorses/dwarf seahorses but id only reccomend that to some one with alot of experience and spare time. a pair of large cleaner shrimp can almost replace a fish in terms of movement. there are a few more im forgetting.

I used nano-reef alot when I had my 10g running. The guys there spent alot of time putting together a great fish guide that was especially for nanos.

You can also go to the Drs Smith and Foster website for liveaquaria and click on saltwater fish, then nano fish and they will have all of them listed. You can research all of the fish to see what best fits. I am biased to perculas and yellow watchman gobies as they are fun to watch, get along and hardy.

This was my favorite Nano fish!

Scooter Blenny:

Yes scooter bleenies are the best!! Always wanted one never had a good tank for it though.

Agreed on the yellow watchman...very fun to watch. Also, clown gobies are pretty small and kind of nice.
