I keep watching the dragon goby going up to the top of the water grabbing air then swimming down and releases it then does it again. He has been doing this for 5 min straight. Is there a reason behind this or is he just playing?

My rabit fish dus that wen she wonts food/treat put a pellet in the tank or try to feed myiss by hand wen he's comin up to the top.

But it can also be a early sine of a gill perasite and the fish is using the air to kill them keep an eye on them look for strings coming out of the gills. I wouldn't worry to much and don't go running off and medacate the tank trying to cure sompthing your not sure of it my just be play or trying to git your attention

I've never heard this before. Have any research to back this up? Sounds interesting.

could be hungry, could be gill parasites, could be low oxygen levels.

I ran across this a few times wen I was breading ciclids it was a simple gill worm the fish were going to the top grabbing air towing to the sand bed holding it then releasing it latter I saw thin strings in the gills (worms)

My orange shoulder does this as well. Seems to only do it after he eats. I think he might have gas :)

My male Lyretail does this as well, but only at the corner of the tank were I feed.

My Kole does this a lot. I have always wonderred about it but he seems to be fine. I tend to thing he is just playing but what do I know????
