If I do that then the fish would flow over on to the crate and not make it because its out the water?

So you went against all the advice not to cycle live fish and did it anyway ..

Good luck

Yeah I saw that on a tank at a lps, so it won't hurt nothing?
Thx ill give it a try

I had the same problem and used the egg crate but added floss over it. Or you can fill the overflow with bio balls. Had to do that once also.

Go to lowes and get this.

Cut the size you need and wire tie it to the front of the overflow.

The Atlanta Reef Club promotes responsible reefkeeping and ecological preservation. It's the very reasons this organization was founded. Please do not be surprised/offended/irritated when people call you out for doing things that are counter to our philosophy.

No offense taken, I've been into fresh water aquiriums for 14 years or so but I'm still new to the saltwater world and cycling tanks with live fish was the only way I knew but I guess looking at it in the same way as you guys I guess it probably is cruel but hey I never looked at it in that way!!

Willie, this is an awesome hobby and one that can be extremely rewarding. However, there are few things that are the same between freshwater and saltwater aquaria. Keep reading, learning, and asking questions. There may be more than one "right" way to do a lot of things in our hobby. There are also some ways that are considered very wrong.

Good luck with your tank!
