Fish Suggestion

I currently have a 34 gallon tank with no fish. I am now looking into adding three fishes to the tank that are reef safe. The only fish that is a "must have" is a clownfish, either false percula or true percula.

My other thoughts are having a perching fish such as a yellow clown goby and another fish that inhabits the bottom of the tank.

Does anyone have suggestions? I am trying to have fish that inhabit different levels of the tank's water column or fish that exhibits unique behaviors.

You could always get a pair of clowns, but if you want more variety, the goby will stay more towards the bottom, which is what you are looking for. You could also looking into a cardinal or like a 6 bar wrasse. Those would add a lot of color to your reef.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do not think I have ever seen a 6 bar wrasse before. Are they similar in size to the 6 line wrasse?

I'd go for a cardinal. The 6-line's are cool, but a bit active for my taste.

A lawnmower blenny is a great choice too. I was reluctant to get one as I didn't care for the look, but this fish has a TON of personality as well as being very productive in the tank.

Yeah sorry, thats what I meant. Oops!

I like my jawfish. Neon goby and firefish would work too. Just make sure you got a good lid. They're jumpers!

stay away from 6-liner, get a flasher/fairy wrasse.

6-liner is impossible to catch, unless you tear down the whole tank.

I find 6-lines easy to catch with the proper device.

A pair of clowns, a perching goby, and a firefish or wrasse would look good, IMO.

Thanks for all the help. I have a lot consider and may have to delay my fish purchase.

I have the blue spotted jawfish!! beautiful fish. highly recommend it. got mine from Rit's and it makes a great addition to my 29G. I also have a yellow watchman and firefish. They all get along :)

Can't go wrong with those. Tailspot blennies are amazing lil guys as well.

Its been a month since I added my pair of clownfish and my water parameters have been stable since the addition. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and 0 nitrate. I am thinking about adding another fish to my tank. Currently, I am looking at either a yellow watchman or a blue dot jawfish. I was wondering if anyone had any experience keeping either one of these fishes. Is a DSB necessary for either fishes health?

For the jawfish, yes, for the goby, no. The blue spots are notoriously difficult and a lot more $$$.

Had the blue spot and LOVED THAT FISH. But... our AC went out and the tank got up to 84... he didnt last much longer after that.

Other than that, he was an easy fish to care for. Heck... I even made him a little pvc home against the glass so you could always see him. Lots of personality. Def had to suicide proof my tank though.
