I recently bought at Banggai cardinal from a local fish store and I can't get him to eat. When I bought him they said he was eating flake food but no luck for me also try frozen mixes and Brian but He did not eat that either Any suggestions would be great

Cardinals are far more active at night. Try feeding after dark.

See if you can find some live gut loaded brime shrimp or try adding pods to the tank if feeding in the evening doesn't work. Hope it will workout for you!:D

Did you get he LFS to feed him in front of you? I always ask them to feed the fish I am interested in to see how well he eats...if not eating or eating well...I stay away from that fish. I learned this lesson the hard way. JMO Mike

Bangs really only like live food. Females will eat pellets when they are making eggs, but males rarely do. Live black worms are always a winner.

is there possible that the Bangai is carrying eggs in his mouth and that is why he is not eating?

Dose petsmart sale any thing it will it that's my only local store I ordered pods from reefs2go

Most will eventually eat frozen foods, but it wants live black worms. You could hatch Brine Shrimp for a start. It wants live food.

I have a mated pair of Banghaiis that eat pellets, flake, and frozen food. I have three of their now adult sized babies in another reef and they also eat pellets, frozen and flake.

you can ask a lfs to ship you live blackworms...I know of 2 that usually get them in frequently.

As far as frozen, I have yet to find a fish that won't eat Cyclopeez. Might want to try it.
