My new flame doesn't seem too interested in these formula two pellets I'm feeding, although he does pick at the rock a lot so I assume he's eating some algae atleast. What does everybody else feed theirs?

That's interesting because I had a flame angel that I unfortunately lost to Ick that ate anything I put in the tank rods food pellets nori mysis grazed on the rocks it didn't matter he ate it

i have a 4 year old coral beauty that loves Elos pellets. But has no problem eating mysis or cyclopeeze either.

What size pellet? Formula 2, small or medium maybe 'big' for your flame angel. When I had a 'centropyge', in particular a coral beauty, it very much preferred picking on rocks and nori sheets. If you want to wean it on pellets, try smaller pellet size such as Spectrum Thera-A, Elos or smaller particulates. Give it some time and eventually it will get accustomed to your feeding offerings (mysis, spirunelia brine). Best of luck with your flame...

well i havent looked to see if there was a pellet size on the jar, guess i thought they only made one but they seem small to me, hes the biggest fish in my tank, my firefish, dottyback and clowns all eat these pellets with no problem. I am going to pick up some sheet algae somewhere and try that though.I'll look for some smaller food as well.

Edit: Hes developing some spots now need to research that and see what might be going on. Not spots like ich though there more like spots that are loosing color or transparent.

he ate a little bit of a formula one cube tuesday, i have some nori hanging in there now, we'll see how that works. Are there any non invasive macroalgaes that someone has had experience with that i could grow in the display that it would probably eat?

I have grape caulerpa in my main display and once in a while my angel picks off of it but she wont eat it as a staple diet.

Mine never stopped eating. Of course its diet mainly consisted of corals, but it ate well!

As long as your flame is eating, picking on rocks or cubed foods, I wouldn't be too concerned. What is of concern are the 'spots' which could mean it is not getting sufficient diet and/or water quality. (If it's just the flame, I would guess the former). Are your rocks new and do you have alot of 'mature' rocks? Are you supplementing frozen food with vitamins? Try PE Mysis instead or soak thawed food with Selcon, Vitamin C. IMO, adding macroalgae is a hit or miss with certain fishes besides tangs.

looks liike hes still doing ok, havent really noticed the spots in the past few days, may have been nothing, he begs the shrimp for cleaning pretty often and his poop strings a little bit, looks i just need to find something this guy wants to eat.None of the rocks are new, the sand bed is only a few months old but the rocks are mature.
