Does anybody do any maintenance on their float switches? I'm asking because I'm starting to think I'm paranoid....When I change my water, weekly, I shake the switch up and down to make sure it moves easy on the guide. I'm always afraid algae is growing on the switch and will stick if I don't. Sound crazy?

a little.. but scale can build up on them.. scrape it off with a fingernail..

that's about it.. (always a good idea to make sure your ATO container's full volume can be handled by your sump.. )

Good point. I get scared thinking about that much water going in, but at least it won't overflow my sump. Unless of course my return pump died at the same time. Then I'd be screwed :confused2:

yeah.. I wasn't really thinking about hyposalinity, so much as spills..

I agree.. I'd be in trouble too if my ato stuck and my pump shut off...
