Just bought one of these guys to help clean the sand. A few minutes after I put him in, he burried into the sand and stayed there. (all you see are his eyes popping out every once in a while.) It has been a few days now and he has not even moved much. (I still see his eyes pop out now and then)

Should I dig him up and see if hey starts moving around?

I have several in my tank. They will bury and stay there sometimes for a day or 2.

They spend a lot of energy eating. It's normal for them to bury themselves to scavenge, and it's normal for them to stay in one spot and rest for a few days before going on another eating binge.

They can be found in the wild the same way. Last trip we took as a family to Sanibel the kids rounded up a couple hundred of em. Hated to make the kids leave em all behind. ;)

I love mine its one of my fav things in the tank. If you grab him be carefull because he has a big barb on the bottom that looks like it could really hurt.

Another thing you can do to find him when he burrows it look under the tank through the glass and you can usually spot em. I would agree its normal behavior but it doesn't bother mine if I grab him everyonce in a while.

Something to look out for is if it starts climbing the glass or overflow means its running out of food.
