Fluval Edge 6g Black - $36.98 @ Petco

My wife has called dibs on a freshwater tank for the kitchen counter. We'll see if I can:

A.) Persuade her a tiny reef with a goby would be more attractive
B.) Find another Fluval for a mini reef for my desk!

Yesterday, I went to mine in Alpharetta - the had none. But when they looked up the item in their system it came up as $36.99 in all of their other locations. It may be one of those things that you have to ask for. They said it was a discontinued item. I hope ths helps.

I have one, I think I'm going to keep it and make it work for the office. I kept moving it around and it looked huge, I found one spot that it kinda fits in, and since it's now out of the box, I guess it's staying..... My office mates will just have to get used to it......

I'm really thinking fresh water though, over going salt...... I can't turn my workplace into a DIY workshop. It has to look small, nice and well maintained. I think freshwater fits that bill nicely.

What are you other guys doing with yours?

That's why I'm thinking freshwater..... after it gets nasty with algae and needs a cleaning, I'll buy a Plecostomus . I had one in a 20gal fw tank and it kept that tank immaculate!

I know he will out grown the tank, and have to be re-homed, and that it will need sublimental feeding once the tank is cleaned, but the addition of one of these guys means you practically never put your hands in the tank.

I'm psyched! Thanks for hooking me up Kris, and thanks to the OP for posting of this great deal!!!!!!!!

For a tank that small, once you see algae, get an otocinclus or 2, they are a dwarf sucker-mouth catfish that stay very small - small enough that they always stay "cute" - low maintenance, keep to themselves and love algae

Thanks for the advise!

I think I've talked myself into a nano reef..... I just have to make certain that I keep it clean and looking good all the time, so people in my office wont complain....

I'm seeding the media, rock and substrate in my home tank now. It's still just sitting empty on my desk...

I'd like to see pictures of what everyone else has done with theres

Cool Link@

I bought what looks to be the same LEDs on Amazon for 6 bucks each. They dont have the polycarbonate lens cover (I'll use nail polish) and they have a much lower K value, but I'm shopping for blue LED strip now to blue up the tank

If I had more money, I'd be all over those, LOL

Its expensive as mess. But its the best light I have found for the edge. Make sure to seal your lights!! the salt splash back from the filter will erode your lights!!

Funniest thing about saltwater enthusiasts...

Saltwater enthusiast: I don't really need another tank but since those Fluval Edges are a great deal at $36.98 I'm gonna buy one. Hrrmm now lets see, the $329.95 light will fit just right!:yay:

For me to spend that much to light my Edge, I'd have to be able to drive it to work.....

I just bought this moonlight

I've measured it, I should be able to zip tie it to the front side of the light bar of the Edge . I opted for the multi-voltage thing that makes them dimable.

6" long with 5 Blue LEDs

All in cost- $25.86

I'll let you guys know how it works!

I originally started to mention that the moon light has cost almost as much as the tank

Incidentals have really added up, and I've not stocked it yet...

Speaking of which, what fish are you putting in yours?
