I recently decided to start up a Fluval Spec 5 gallon for my office. Here are some pics of the progress.

Day 1: the bottom intake is all sealed up, and the pump upgraded to the mini-jet 606. No other changes to the filtration system.

All settled on the second morning.

What I believe will be the final rock placement...for the third time.

After nearly three weeks of cycling, there was no algae even trying to grow. Thus, the upgraded lighting. I went with the Coralife 20" T5 HO dual with two Ecoxotic LED strips for some pop.

Hopefully more updates to follow!

my boss said no :( i think that call for a job search...lol looking good so far.

Nice! I had a Fluval 6g Edge at one time.

What are you planning to stock in your 5g? Looks like you're ready for a goby with the sandbed.

My work boss might actually say yes. The real boss would say no lol! Nice setup! I'd love to migrate my sons 5gal marine land column hex to something like a fluval.

Off to a great start. A diy gravel vac skimmer would fit perfect in the rear chambers if you wanted to add a skimmer.

I know better than to ask. Maybe I'll just set one up on the weekend and see what happens on Monday.

Great call on the LEDs, they look really good. Any idea on stocking yet?

I've even changed the lights again! I'll post some pics next week if I get time, but I have a very young Picasso clown, a red clown goby, a panda goby, and a flaming prawn goby for the fishes. There is a pair of sexy shrimp and a peppermint shrimp, hermits and snails for inverts. I have a few different kinds of zoanthids, one cool little torch, a couple of ricordeas, and a bubble mushroom. Overall, I couldn't be happier with it.
