For those with sumps in unheated garages...

I made mine a room with exhaust fans and still got more than a little mold. Heat was actually more of an issue than the cold. Had to switch my light cycle to 11p-7a.
 
put the walls together with 3" screws that way you can disassemble, paneling is very cheap if your worried about looks, and pink insulation also for that matter. oil heater 35 bucks set it at 75 and forget it.
 
I guess with a sump located in the garage you'd also have to be really careful about things like stored chemicals, gasoline, pesticides, herbicides etc., if your skimmer is out there as well as pulling air from that location. Anything giving off odors will get into your water.

How big a sump are you wanting? Refugium too?

A large brute w/ lid and a -hot water tank insulation sleeve- might be all you need.
