Anybody know where I can get the dosing formula for using Interceptor to get rid of redbugs in my QT/Frag tank? I don't want to overdose. Also....any suggestions on what should be removed from the tank before dosing. I have a few crabs in there and I had some peppermint shrimp (I need to check and see if they are still there). I've also got a feather duster. Other than that...it's 4 fish and the rest are corals.

Yep. It's pretty hard to OD. Red bugs are one of the easiest to get rid of.

What do you mean "left in"? I'm treating a tank...not dipping individual corals, etc. They have taken over rock and frag racks so I've got no real choice in the matter.

I guess now the better question is to ask what the protocol is?

Jeff,
I haven't had redbugs for a long time, but here is a thread from several years ago discussing it, and it holds true today. Some references to overdosing and what is/is not in danger from the use of the product.

So if I've read correctly and understood the original thread.......23mg treats 380g therefore in my case it would only take 11% of the pill to treat my 40g (slightly more with skimmer and filter water volume...I'd say about 2 gallons total).

I also read that it is not necessary to remove any CUC. I'm assuming that my clam would also be unaffected. So that brings me to this...if you remove your CUC and a redbug is on them.....wouldn't removing them then putting them back just reintroduce the problem? I think I'm going to take the risk and leave them in the tank (there's only a few anyway). Again, my only real concern is for the clam that I've been nursing back to health in this tank. I think he's ready to move to the DT but I won't until I know I'm not transferring RBs.

Jeff I just treated my 200gallon system with a full 23mg sentinel pill 3days ago. It completely eliminated my red bugs which were prevalent. I had zero losses all my snails, blue legs and my large clam were all unaffected. just my experience with the same active ingredient.

Thanks for that info!!!! Brings a relief to me. I'm treating today...in fact just crushed up the pill and I'm ready to apply.

Sweet... Good luck. Its amazing how much some of my corals are coloring back up all ready .

It would be sweet if all our Reef pests were so easy to get rid of.
