:lol2: I wish I was thinking faster and grabbed my iphone to record this! I started restocking my 55G tank with some macro algae and fish, sort of going for a planted tank kind of theme. I added a couple of high-fin banded shrimp gobies to the tank on Friday. I already had two pistol shrimps in the tank that have been in there for a couple of years. By Saturday morning, the gobies had already found and paired up with the two pistol shrimps. Sweet! Although I was hoping they would stay together and pair up, rather than pick burrows on opposite sides of the tank.
Anyway, I noticed that as soon as the pistol shrimps were paired with the gobies, they immediatley started to excavate thier burrows and were out in the open a lot more. I had not really seen them much over the past year or so, they stayed hidden 99% of the time.
On Saturday, I was on the phone with Bud and watching one of them excavate it's burrow. The pistol was working extremely hard to move a large Astrea shell in to position on the corner of the burrow. The only problem was that this particular shell had a hermit crab in it. Every time the pistol shrimp would get it in to position, the hermit crab would pop out and start walking away! If pistol shrimps could curse I am sure it was cussing up a storm :doh: This went on for about 10 mins. It was one of the funniest things I have watched in my tank! I wish I had it on video, would have been a cinch for Vid of the month!
