Why is it calle "garbage can favia"?

Looks more like the cookie monster to me.

It was rescued from the bottom of a garbage can at MACNA in Atlanta, so we call it "The Garbage Can Favia!"

LOL that is Actually an aussie prizm favia but it aquired the name after it was left for dead in one of the brute cans at MACNA. I still saw some green in the eyes and nursed it back to health. According to an article she read from Eric Bornemen it seams it might be spawning.

Thanks, we will keep an eye on it and see what happens. It has been this way for a bit but the bubbles really just decided to puff up. According to what the article said. They will puff up forming a calcariuos skeleton inside then the polyp will fall off. And be carried away by the current to form another coral. I have never seen one do it so that would be cool.

You guys should have seen the shape it was in when he snagged it.. It was a tiny speck of life on a dead looking coral.. Amazing!

I need some confirmation that I will have two more of these beautiful favia's! Has anyone else seen this on their favia's?
